Increasing WebDAV Download / Upload Size Limits, and Timeout Time

WebDAV is an amazing tool, that allows you to access your Document Archiver file system within your computers file browser. In a previous article we showed you how to setup WebDAV. In this article we will be showing you how to modify the Windows Registry to increase file size limits that will allow you to download and upload more than 50MB at a time.

Step 1.) Click the "Start" button in the lower left hand corner of the taskbar. Type in "Regedit" and press enter.

Step 2.)

In the folder tree located on the left hand side of the window, navigate to

"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WebClient\Parameters"

Step 3.) With the parameters folder selected locate the DWORD FileSizeLimitInBytes.

Step 4.) On the Edit menu, click Modify, for the base option, select Decimal.

Step 5.) In the Value data box increase the Value of 50000000 (in bytes) to a new limit that suits your needs. (example: 200000000 is equal to 200MB.) Once finished choose ok.

Now Comes the changes to the timeout time of a file transfer between your computer and WebDAV. The default setting is set to limit file transfer times to 30min, we are going to increase this to allow more files to transferred at one time.

Step 6.) Locate and then click the following registry subkey:

"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\MRxDAV\Parameters"

Step 7.) With the parameters folder selected locate the DWORD FsCtlRequestTimeoutInSec.

Step 8.) On the Edit menu, click Modify, for the base option, select Decimal.

Step 9.) In the Value data box increase the Value of 1800 (Decimal) to a new limit that suits your needs. The default value of 1800 represents the timeout period in seconds. (example: 1800 seconds is equal to 30 minutes. 3600 seconds is equal to 1 hour.) Once finished choose ok.

Step 10.) Exit Registry Editor.

Step 11.) Restart your computer.

Congratulations you have now increased file size limits, and the timeout time for WebDAV file transfers.
